The book

The kings men. The Drabant Corps of Charles XII

In The kings men. The Drabant Corps of Charles XII, Stefan Ingesson gives a vivid picture of how military life was in the Swedish Empire, and not least, pharmacology.

The book is published by Ekström & Garay and Stefan Ingesson.

It is a day in the early 18th century. The smoke has not yet cleared the battlefield. Here and there scattered screams from wounded soldiers are heard. It's time for the barber surgeon to get down to his dirty work. But their work was not just about removing injured limbs. In his book, The kings men. The Drabant Corps of Charles XII, Stefan Ingesson gives a detailed description of the medical procedures used to treat the injured drabants of King Charles XII.

Rarely do we get such intimate insight into the lives of soldiers as we do here, as they try to survive not only the hail of enemy gunfire and serious illnesses,
but also often harsh and, at times, questionable treatments and medications.
